Aerospace Welding

Students of the CAS in Aerospace Welding will learn the skills needed to pass the TIG welding certification requirements of Montana Precision Products along with additional skills in advanced TIG welding processes. This industry specific certification demonstrates to employers that students have a particular aptitude and breadth of knowledge in welding.  This CAS is a 21 credit hour certificate making this a program that students can expeditiously complete and enter the workforce with a valuable and legitimate college credential in the quickest time possible. The CAS in Aerospace Welding will provide students the opportunity to learn the important aspects of the science and art of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. Students start their curriculum with safety, technical mathematics, and technical writing, designed specifically for workplace needs. Students then move into Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Blueprint Reading, Precision Measurement, Weld Visual Inspection, and Welding Symbols.  Fall entry only.

Objectives:

  • Delivering contemporary curriculum to meet degree outcomes of the program.
  • Improving the quality of teaching and learning by refining methodologies, and enhancing the relationship between the instructor and student.
  • Participating in continuing educational opportunities that enhance our relationship to both industry and the community.
  • Utilizing the most highly-advanced and sophisticated software and training techniques available, which provides the student with the practical knowledge base that employers desire.
  • Working with current employers and potential firms that incorporate our graduates as full time and part time employees.

Outcomes:

  1. At graduation, students earning a Certificate in Aerospace Welding will have the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain placement within the discipline.
  2. Students within the Aerospace Welding Program will demonstrate competency in the use of manual and software applications for aerospace manufacturing equipment typically used in industry.
  3. Demonstrate problem solving, informational literacy, technological and communication skills in team and individual learning exercises.
  4. Provide students with the skills that will promote occupational growth and life-long learning.
