Graduates of the Automotive Technology Programs will have the skill- set to enter into employment in the U.S. Automotive Industry. This program includes technical hands-on skills in gasoline and light duty engines; automatic and manual transmissions; up-to-date scanners, scopes, meters, probes for diagnostic analysis; diagnostic and re-charge of A/C systems; braking tools, lathes and application and four wheel alignments. Graduate will also learn soft skills required to be successful and complete in the U.S. Automotive industry including: safe and productive utilization of shop tools and machinery; automotive information and data retrieval using national databases; interpersonal communication techniques in individual and group settings and critical thinking skills.

Outcomes

At graduation, students earning an AAS in Automotive will have the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain placement within the discipline.
Students within the Automotive Program will demonstrate competency in the use of manual and diagnostic software equipment typically used in industry.
Demonstrate problem solving, informational literacy, technological and communication skills in team and individual learning exercises.

Completion of the first two semesters may result in a CERTIFICATE IN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY. To earn this certificate, students must also complete each of the following courses: COMX 115 and WRIT 100.
