BIOM 435 - Virology3 credits (3 hrs. Lec.) Viruses represent a major category of human infectious diseases. This course will cover viral classification systems, structural features, replication cycle variations, host-pathogen interactions, epidemiology, and relevant cellular biology. Specific important families of human viruses will be evaluated thoroughly. Additional topics will include plant viruses, bacterial viruses (bacteriophages), as well as non-viral pathogens prions and viroids.
Prerequisite(s): BIOB 160 and BIOB 161
