GEOE 531 - Acid Rock Drainage3 credits (Hrs: 3 Lec.) A review of the chemical and physical controls on the release of acid and heavy metals from mine waste is followed by a discussion of up to date methods to predict, prevent, and treat acid rock drainage. Several field trips include visits to abandoned and active mine sites, as well as on-going reclamation projects in the Butte-Anaconda area.
Prerequisite(s): GEOE 420 or Consent of Instructor. Course generally offered 1st semester.
