Upon completion of the Undergraduate Certificate in Nuclear Energy, students will be able to:
- Apply fundamental principles of nuclear physics and engineering to explain nuclear reactor behavior and energy production processes.
- Evaluate radiological health and safety practices to assess and mitigate radiation exposure risks to workers, the public, and the environment.
- Analyze the structure, properties, and performance of materials used in nuclear energy systems, including the effects of radiation and extreme operating conditions.
- Use appropriate analytical, computational, and technical tools to solve problems related to nuclear systems, radiation interactions, and material degradation.
- Interpret technical data and regulatory guidance relevant to nuclear energy applications and radiation protection.
- Communicate technical information related to nuclear energy clearly and effectively in written and oral formats.
- Explain the societal, environmental, and economic roles of nuclear energy within the broader energy system and its contribution to reliable and low-carbon power generation.
