Program Pathways
The BS Occupational Safety and Health degree is offered in two modalities. The first is a traditional route with the following curriculum offered in a face-to-face student learning environment. The second pathway is designed for working adults and transfer students who have completed an associates degree or significant college coursework meeting math, science, and general education prerequisite criteria for OSH courses and degree requirements. OSH prefix courses and professional electives are offered in an asynchronized online modality for students in this pathway. In addition to the students completing the OSH courses primarily online, supporting courses may also be a component of the OSH student’s degree plan. At least 50% of the student’s upper division (300/400 level classes) credits must be completed through Montana Tech, including Senior Design/Capstone courses and all core classes as determined by the department. No course below a “C-” will transfer or be acceptable toward degree requirements, and the student must achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 on all coursework attempted as well as on all coursework in the OSH major. To earn the Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health, students must complete a total of 121/122 credit hours. All OSH prefix courses and professional electives will be offered face-to-face and online with the exception of OSH 430 which will be provided only face-to-face in a spring semester or summer lab residency.
