Automotive Technology, A.A.S

Graduates of the Automotive Technology Programs will have the skill- set to enter into employment in the U.S. Automotive Industry. This program includes technical hands-on skills in gasoline and light duty engines; automatic and manual transmissions; up-to-date scanners, scopes, meters, probes for diagnostic analysis; diagnostic and re-charge of A/C systems; braking tools, lathes and application and four wheel alignments. Graduate will also learn soft skills required to be successful and complete in the U.S. Automotive industry including: safe and productive utilization of shop tools and machinery; automotive information and data retrieval using national databases; interpersonal communication techniques in individual and group settings and critical thinking skills.

Outcomes

  • At graduation, students earning an AAS in Automotive will have the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain placement within the discipline.
  • Students within the Automotive Program will demonstrate competency in the use of manual and diagnostic software equipment typically used in industry.
  • Demonstrate problem solving, informational literacy, technological and communication skills in team and individual learning exercises.

Minimum credits for an AAS degree in Automotive Technology: 70


Completion of the first two semesters may result in a CERTIFICATE IN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY.   To earn this certificate, students must also complete each of the following courses:   COMX 115 and WRIT 108.
