Geoscience, Engineering Geology, M.S.

A Master of Science in Geoscience with an “Option in Engineering Geology” provides an opportunity for students with geology-related degrees to gain the appropriate background to pursue career paths aimed at the engineering, construction, and resource development industries. Required coursework emphasizes the engineering content covered in regional engineering geology certification exams and provides exposure to the references that are recommended reading for these exams. Students must successfully complete a smaller set of math and mechanics courses than is required for the Option in Geological Engineering.

Admission Requirements:

B.S. in Geology or related field.

Math through Calculus II.

Two semesters of college physics.

A course in statics.

Option:

Thesis, Publishable Paper, or Non-Thesis

Examinations:
The final examination for thesis and publishable paper-option students will consist of an oral presentation and defense of the thesis. Questions may be asked on any topic related to the thesis/paper or course work taken as part of the graduate program.
