Welding Technology, Certificate of Applied Science


Students of the Certificate of Applied Science (CAS) in Welding Technology will learn the skills needed to pass the NCCER Level I and Level II certification. This industry specific certification demonstrates to employers that students have a particular aptitude and breadth of knowledge in welding.  This CAS is a 41 credit hour certificate. The structure of the program allows students to complete the required 41 credits by attending the Fall and Spring semesters, making this a program that students can expeditiously complete and enter the workforce with a valuable and legitimate college credential in the quickest time possible.  The CAS in Welding Technology will provide students the opportunity to learn the important aspects of the science and art of welding.

A Professional Certificate in Welding Technology may be awarded at the successful completion of the first semester of study.  Students who wish to continue a second semester may earn a Certificate of Applied Science in Welding Technology. 

At that time, a student has the following options:

  1. Exit with the Certificate of Applied Science.
  2. Continue for one year in the Machining Technology CAS program.  Together, these 2 certificates make a Metals Fabrication Technology, A.A.S.  degree.

Outcomes

Graduates of the Welding Technology programs will be able to:

  • Produce welds in all positions in accordance to national welding standards.

  • Demonstrate fabrication skills in diverse manufacturingenvironments in a conscientious, precise, and deliberate manner.
  • Demonstrate a solid knowledge base conducive to educational and employment mobility.

  • Utilize fabrication machinery and equipment in a safe and productive manner.

  • Utilize interpersonal communication techniques in individual and group settings.

  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for decisions and actions taken in the work environment.
