NRSG 309 - Care Of The Aging Client

3 credits (Hrs: 2 Lec., 1 Clinical)

Through caring, communication, professionalism, critical thinking, and clinical judgment, this course focuses on developing advanced multidimensional geriatric assessment skills using research based tools. The student will incorporate evidencebased standards into a teaching plan to reduce risk and promote healthy activities in older adults. Several different clinical settings will be utilized to compare healthy, frail, institutionalized, and acutely ill aging adult populations. Model programs for geriatric nursing care will be examined and evaluated for their utility at the local, state, and national levels.

Prerequisite(s): RN Licensure.
