EELE 546 - Advanced Wireless System Design3 credits (Hrs: 3 Lec.) Provides advanced study of the design and optimization of modern FEC-based OFDM wireless communication systems using complex baseband signal representations of transmitters and receivers, with emphasis on Wi-Fi and cellular standards. Includes statistical channel propagation modeling; parameter selection and performance optimization for single-input, single-output links under delay-dispersive channels and nonlinear or stochastic transceiver impairments; and system and algorithm design leveraging spatial processing and diversity techniques for single-user multiple-input, multiple-output downlink and uplink communications. Emphasizes analytical and simulation-based design methodologies culminating in individual design projects and a comprehensive final project with presentation.
