MIN 595 - Mining Engineering Practicum This practicum will provide students with abbreviated hands-on applied learning opportunities in the areas of Mine Design, Ventilation, and Geomechanics including:
- Completing an introduction to modern, three-dimensional modeling and design of mining operations.
- Performing industry standard rock strength tests and analyze data to be used in the design process.
- Performing rock bolt “pull tests” in the Underground Mine Education Center to compare rock bolt design strength to actual field measurements.
- Conducting standard mine ventilation survey measurements in both a controlled laboratory setting and the Underground Mine Education Center.
Prerequisite(s): Graduate Standing or Consent of Instructor
