LINE 140 - Pole Yard14 credits (Hrs: 14 Lec.) This course provides extensive hands-on training in the use, assembly, and application of materials, tools, and equipment common to the line industry, combined with supporting classroom instruction. Lecture components introduce fundamental concepts such as safety standards, equipment operation, and industry procedures, which are applied during structured lab activities in the pole yard. Students will practice and perform a variety of essential line worker tasks, including proper climbing techniques, pole-top rescue, EPZ grounding, rigging practices, and working from backer boards and ladders. Additional skills include pole setting and other competencies required of entry-level line apprentices.
