NRSG 430 - Healthcare from the Patient’s Perspective3 credits (Hrs: 2 Lec, 1 Lab) This course focuses on health promotion and illness management in relation to particular nursing issues. The patient experience is examined utilizing a holistic viewpoint with emphasis on the patient perspective in order to provide holistic patient-centered care across the lifespan and healthcare continuum. The student identifies an area of interest, researches the area, and explores the nurse’s role in the current practice. The course integrates theory, evidence, ethical and legal principles, and profession standards into nursing care. The concepts of caring, ethics, spirituality, advocacy, culture, and patient vulnerability are examined.
The course critically examines beginning nursing practice and the progression from the novice to expert in professional nursing practice.
